Quality of Life

As a candidate for Town Council, I hope to bring the many diverse communities of West Orange together. Embracing our diversity is our strength and treating all our neighbors with kindness and respect is our shared value.

I have always called upon the leaders of West Orange to legislate as if the phrase, “Hate has no home here” was not just a slogan but a motto to live and work by. The following are policy proposals and issues I am focusing on in my campaign to improve the quality of life for all West Orange residents:

Stronger Together:

  • Strengthen the Human Relations Commission by updating the ordinance and appointing a Town Council liaison that will support the work required to strengthen community
  • Support and strengthen community groups that are the fabric of our community. Identify a neutral mediator or ombudsman to address community disputes.
  • Reiterate our commitment to public safety, especially for our most vulnerable neighbors and friends. Equity and Inclusion are essential components of a healthy diverse community.
  • Ensure residents know about the “Immigrant Trust Directive (ITD)” and how to respond to ICE questioning. Honoring our commitment to every resident strengthens the bonds of friendship and community.

Public Safety:

  • Ensuring pedestrian safety and walkability are a priority of Township government by appointing a Town Council Public Safety Liaison to Police and Fire departments.
  • Reviewing the Township budget for outdated spending in order to ensure our police force is able to hire enough officers.

Transparency and Connection:

  • Weekly communication to residents regarding issues in the Township.
  • Participation in Town Council open hours.
  • Execute on the Forensic Audit the Township Council passed under my leadership t better understand and communicate how tax dollars are raised, spent, recorded, and reported to taxpayers
